NNLP and the Community
Noozhoo Nokiiyan Limited Partnership is a division ofThe Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN). The MSIFN is located in the Township of Scugog, part of Durham Region. MSIFN cares about the community and has worked closely with regional and municipal partners on education, health and cultural programs and services through the Baagwating Community Association (BCA). Since the inception of Great Blue Heron Casino (GBH), MSIFN has donated more than $13.5 million to worthy causes in and around the region, contributing to a healthy, prosperous, and thriving community.
In 2014, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) opened the Baagwating Indigenous Student Centre which was partially funded through a $450,000 donation made by BCA. The BCA also donated $250,000 to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation for renovations at Lakeridge Health Port Perry. In addition to contributing to big-budget projects for the community, MSIFN has provided funding for smaller organizations and those in need, including registered charities, post-secondary students and local sports teams.
MSIFN donations will continue to be under the discretion of the First Nation as the MSIFN moves the GBH into this new phase for gaming.
